SNAP – Spay/Neuter Assistance Program

The Humane Society of Buffalo Trace began SNAP in December of 2006. It is for pet owners who are residents of Mason County, Kentucky.

Applications must be postmarked between the 1st and the 15th of each month. Applications with a postmark before the 1st or after the 15th will be rejected. If an application is rejected, the applicant may reapply in the next month.

The Spay/Neuter Committee will review all applications and inform pet owners who have been chosen. Pet owners must pay the $25 co-pay and receive their voucher before the time of surgery. The voucher must be presented upon arrival at the animal clinic. Vouchers cover only the cost of surgery -- not vaccinations or other services.

Those who do not receive a voucher in any given month may re-apply.

Applications are available at Colonial Heights and Town & Country veterinary clinics, Mason County Animal Shelter and Mason County Judge-Executive's office.

Vouchers must be used within 60 days or they will be void. However, if a veterinarian decides that due to ill health or age an animal isn't a good surgery candidate, he or she may extend the voucher time.

If you have any questions about the program, call Melissa at Colonial Heights Veterinary Clinic at 759-7115 or Carla at Town & Country Veterinary Clinic at 759-5496.
